Fluke Rigging Setup
Anderson uses a 4/0 round bend worm hook. He rigs the bait like starting a Texas rig but avoids pushing the plastic too far up the shank. After inserting the hook into the nose, he slides the bait up, rotates the hook and lines it up carefully so the soft jerkbait stays perfectly straight. Keeping the bait straight is critical. A crooked fluke will not track correctly. The most important detail is leaving the hook eyelet exposed. That exposed pull point allows the bait to swim freely and produce a natural side-to-side action.
Why This Soft Jerkbait Rig Works
This setup removes excess plastic from the nose. That clean profile creates a better glide and sharper darting action. The fluke moves with a snake-like motion when twitched. Anderson also leaves the hook point exposed when fishing open water. That choice increases hook-up percentage. Burying the hook can reduce your chances when fish bite aggressively. Small rigging details control how a fluke swims. A straight body, exposed eyelet and proper hook size all matter. If you want more bites on a soft jerkbait, start with the right rigging. This simple approach delivers consistent results.
