We caught up with Mike “Ike” Iaconelli after the 2019 Bassmaster Classic on Fort Loudon and Tellico to learn about the location details of his consistent prespawn bass bite. He lays out in excellent detail the types of areas prespawn bass were relating to, and how Lowrance’s C-MAP Precision Contour HD with color shading was instrumental in finding key spots and establishing a repeatable pattern.

Once Ike got on this locational program, he used mapping to expand his spots “milk run” despite not having fished some of these areas in practice. Using multiple levels of color shading coupled with sonar technologies kept him on the fish each day, and helped propel him to a solid 4th place finish.

Check out this video for details on his dominant crankbait technique for triggering bass on these loaded up spots.
