Sometimes the simplest designs make the most sense and yet we’re always surprised when a simple design comes to market that works so well. The Strike King Rage Twin Tail Menace Grub is one of those “ah-ha” designs that make other designers think, “why didn’t we think of that.” It’s simple straight forward design is also effective in a variety of applications.

Profile perfect for heavy cover
Because the bait has a tapering head and body and no appendages save for the two tail flaps at the end of the Menace, this grub can get into the gnarliest cover where big bass wait to ambush prey. It was especially effective for me flipping bushes this year. I spent several months dunking soft plastics on heavy flipping gear in flooded cover. I had some smashing days on the Strike King Menace Grub when I paired it with a Fish Boss Punch Skirt, Eco Pro Tungsten Flippin weight, and the Strike King Heavy Cover Flipping Hook.
It goes through the cover easily but it displaces a good bit of water when you separate the two tails and let it flutter. It seemed to be the right bit of action in tight quarters to persuade a whole bunch of bass this spring to bite.
Durable baits last
The baits hold up well to the cover, big flipping hooks with keepers and mean bass not wanting to be pulled from their hiding spots. I was able to get several bass out of one package of baits flipping a lot of various wooded cover. I was also able to pinch a little off the head and still rig the bait with a 4/0 flipping hook for extra fish. The best part with these flipping baits is I never had one loose a tail. That can be an annoying part of pitching and flipping baits with a lot of soft appendages. These tails stayed in tact until you had to retire the bait from a torn head.
Lots of uses from simple design
We pitched these baits alone in clear water, added a punch skirt for dirtier water and used them as football jig and swim jig trailers to catch a lot of bass with various uses. I really liked it on a punch skirt and as a swim jig trailer. Gave the bait a good profile and offered a subtle steady kick. Something for the bass to hone in on from a distance or in dingier waters.

The Twin Tail Menace Grub is 4 inches long, comes 8 to a pack and is available in 17 colors. The colors are a big deal because most are colors you would use. We often see large numbers of color options on different shapes but the colors are a lot of regional colors and few common colors. Seems like these baits are offered in a lot of proven colors. I caught a lot of fish on Blue Craw, Black Blue Flake, Candy Craw and Sapphire Craw. Bluegill and Blue Glimmer Flake worked really well on a swim jig.
