Shimano North America Fishing announced a significant shift in its executive leadership, confirming that longtime president Dave Pfeiffer will step down on March 31, 2026. Pfeiffer, a 38-year veteran of the company, will be succeeded by Jason Livermore, the current Senior Vice President, effective April 1.
The transition marks the end of an era for the fishing tackle giant. Pfeiffer’s tenure spanned nearly four decades, during which he held roles in sales, marketing, and product planning before taking the helm as President. Under his leadership, the company rebranded from Shimano American Corporation to its current North American fishing-specific structure in 2017.
While stepping down from the presidency, Pfeiffer is not leaving the organization. He will transition into a newly created role as Vice Chairman and Executive Advisor. In this capacity, he is expected to lead the company’s industry advocacy efforts, representing Shimano’s interests within the broader outdoor and conservation communities.
“Working for my entire career with Shimano has been the greatest honor,” Pfeiffer said in a statement, noting that the role allowed him to combine a personal passion for angling with his professional life.
Incoming president Jason Livermore inherits a company that has seen steady growth despite shifting dynamics in the outdoor retail market. Livermore brings 24 years of experience in the sporting goods industry to the role. His background is heavily rooted in operational strategy, including go-to-market planning and business integration—skills the company indicates will be vital for its next phase of growth.
Pfeiffer endorsed his successor, citing Livermore’s strategic mindset and his growing influence within the industry as key factors in the appointment.
The move is seen by industry analysts as a “continuity hire,” signaling that Shimano intends to maintain its current strategic trajectory while leveraging Livermore’s operational expertise to navigate future market challenges.
