Today, we set down our rods.
Today, the water is still.

On Memorial Day, we pause not to celebrate, but to remember. We remember the men and women who gave everything in service to this country — so we could enjoy quiet mornings on the lake, the peace of the tide rolling in, and the freedom to cast a line in open water.

Fishing teaches patience, reverence, and respect for what we cannot control. So does sacrifice.

Many of those who never came home were anglers, too — sons, daughters, friends, and parents who once stood on these same shores. Today, we honor them not with words alone, but with silence, reflection, and gratitude.

May their memory be as enduring as the rivers that run, and may we never take for granted the freedom they defended.
