Anglers looking for a single reel capable of handling both saltwater environments and freshwater lakes have a new option hitting shelves this week. Lew’s officially announced the launch of its Custom TLX 150 baitcasting reel, scheduled to hit dealers in June 2026.
Designed as a true all-water powerhouse, the Custom TLX 150 aims to deliver elite-level performance and durability regardless of whether it is being used to target inshore saltwater species or heavy-cover largemouth bass.
Engineered for a High Workload
The foundation of the Custom TLX 150 is a rigid aluminum frame built to withstand corrosive coastal environments. To keep the reel comfortable for all-day casting, Lew’s paired this high-strength aluminum foundation with lightweight C45 carbon side plates, minimizing overall weight without sacrificing structural integrity. The reel has already undergone extensive field testing in real-world conditions.

Beneath the hood, the Custom TLX 150 features several of Lew’s proprietary technological designs. At the heart of its performance is the ParaMag RX Magnetic Cast Control system, which provides micro-precise braking adjustments to ensure perfect spool balance and significantly reduce the risk of backlash.
Powering the reel are precision-cut, Hamai CNC-machined Speed Gears paired with a bearing-supported P2 Super Pinion system. This combination ensures exact gear alignment, solid stability, and long-term durability under heavy loads. Furthermore, the reel comes braid-ready out of the box, featuring a titanium-coated, two-stage line guide and a knurled aluminum spool that allows the line to be tied directly without requiring backing.
