Skeeter Boats and Yamaha hosted the 29th annual Skeeter Owners Bass Tournament on Lake Fork, Texas, at Lake Fork Marina and Hotel in Alba, Texas, June 8 through 11, 2023. Approximately 1,800 anglers in 1,000 SkeeterĀ® boats competed for more than $200,000 in cash and prizes, including a Yamaha Kodiak 450 Limited Edition, as well as a 2023 Skeeter ZX150 bass boat powered by a Yamaha 150-horsepower V MAX SHOĀ® outboard, and a 2023 SkeeterĀ® FXR21 75th Anniversary Edition bass boat powered by 250-horsepower Yamaha V MAX SHO outboards.
Anglers fought to catch the biggest bass āabove the slot,” which means out of range of the fish most likely to produce offspring and maintain the population levels. Angler Jeremy Locke won this yearās grand prize, the Skeeter FXR21 75th Anniversary Edition, after reeling in a largemouth bass weighing 9.74 pounds. Noah Ortiz took home the Skeeter ZX150 for weighing in the heaviest bass under the slot with a unique, qualified ātail-lessā largemouth bass, and Lisa Sepulvado of Louisiana, who also finished second in the womenās division, left with the Yamaha ATV. Anglers and volunteers also collected more than 700 toys and $2,200 cash for charities during the event. The Bass Champs Tournament Organization ran the tournament.
āThis family tournament not only brings Skeeter customers together it also gives us an opportunity to give back to Skeeter owners,ā said Jeff Stone, Sr. Vice President/General Manager of Skeeter Boats. āWeāre grateful for support from our sponsors and volunteers and extend special thanks to the legendary Tony Chachere and ‘Skeeter Bean Team’ for cooking for the participants. The turn out and excitement around this tournament are true testaments to the passion people have for competitive fishing.ā
