High School Angler Ejected in Bass Boat Accident

We’re getting word that one high school fishing team avoided serious injury this weekend while competing in a tournament on Lay Lake. While two members of the Jasper Vikings Fishing Team were riding along with a marshal, the marshal’s bass boat hit a stump and ejected one of the anglers from the boat.

Central Clay High School to the rescue

Thankfully, the ejected individual was wearing his PFD and thanks to a nearby Central Clay High School team, he was quickly pulled from the chilly water. According to the Facebook post, the assisting anglers sacrificed several hours of their tournament to make sure everyone was safe and sound.

We’re glad to hear that the boat captain was wearing both his kill switch and PFD. The other angler was also wearing their PFD.

Additional details are limited at this time, but check back for more updates as we learn more.
