Body of Missing Teenage Kayak Angler Found on Ohio River

The body of missing 16-year-old Jacob Stover, the kayak angler that was reported missing back on Jan. 10, 2021 on the Ohio River, near Louisville was found Monday afternoon after a tugboat operator spotted the body near the Newburgh Dam near Evansville, Indiana. The Warrick County Coroner identified Stover’s body and said the cause of death was drowning with hypothermia as a contributing factor.

Stover’s family posted a message on the Search for Jake Stover Facebook Page:

“We are overcome with the grief of losing our son. We are grateful to have resolution in this search made possible by the tremendous support from the community and heroic volunteer efforts during the past two agonizing months.

“While hope remained in our hearts that we might find Jake alive, as the days continued, our prayers and efforts turned to recovering our son. While the sadness is overwhelming, we are profoundly grateful for the support of our extended family and friends, our co-workers and the strangers we never had the chance to meet.”

A candle ceremony was held Wednesday in Jacob’s honor.
