Wired2fish had fun with this one! At our core, Wired2fish tests plenty of new fishing products. You can see it in our videos on YouTube or the tackle reviews on our website. This leaves us with a unique inventory of field-tested gear — tackle that has been unboxed and lightly fished by our staff, especially lures, rods and reels. Often, we’re left with extra samples too. Many of these duplicate packs remain unopened.
So that’s what we tried for this giveaway. We want to congratulate Adam Wilkins for winning an entire tackle tray full of jerkbaits! Jerkbaits are winter staples because they exploit a bass’s slowed metabolism through the power of neutral buoyancy and the lethal pause. While other lures blow past a lethargic fish, a jerkbait’s ability to sit perfectly still in the water column mimics a cold-stressed, dying shad. The erratic darting action and metallic flash trigger a bass’s hunting instincts, but it’s the suspension that keeps the bait in the strike zone long enough to convince a sluggish fish to commit.
In this giveaway, we offered a diverse selection of jerkbaits, including some of your favorite brands such as Strike King, Yo-Zuri and Rapala. Rather than allowing great gear to sit idle in our office, we wanted to get the lures into the hands of our readers and viewers. Giveaway dates were Feb. 9 to Feb. 23. This giveaway has ended.
