Finding bass on grass lakes has and will always be a challenge. Bass relating to grass can be difficult to graph well, particularly in the shallows, so Jacob Wheeler relies on Texas-rigged crawfish plastics for locating pockets of fish.

Wheeler instructs how to transform typical flipping and pitching presentations into search baits. It’s all about fishing the baits quickly through cover while still penetrating it. A Texas-rigged plastic comes through cover much cleaner than crankbaits but has similar triggering attributes when fished with an aggressive lift and fall and making contact with cover.
