Angler’s Body Recovered after Fishing Accident in Florida

Two anglers set out on a fishing trip on Lake Yale in Eustis, Fla. near the Harris Chain of Lakes, but only one made it back on Saturday, July 2, 2022. A single-boat accident was reported on Saturday around 3 p.m. Details are unclear as to the cause of that accident which is still under investigation. A search continued for two days, with the missing angler’s body being recovered on Monday, July 4, 2022. Local authorities identified the angler as Nicholas Kenley.

“This was a single vessel accident, that’s currently under investigation,” said Chad Webber of the Florida Wildlife Commission. “We have witness statements from the individual who was on the boat with Kenley, and we are trying to piece together what took place.

“There was one individual who was picked up by a good samaritan boat, and they brought him to one of the docks. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office returned to begin search and rescue efforts for the missing individual. His body was recovered on Monday.”

Kenley was an avid bass angler and the prayers of our bass fishing community go out to his family at this heartbreaking tragedy. There is a gofundme page setup to help the family with his funeral expenses. He was 38 years old.
