The lowest common denominators to landing a fish comes down to the line and the hook. Back a few years, maybe more than a few, we used a 5 and 1/2 foot pistol grip rod and had gear ratio reels that were high speed at 5.3:1. We still caught fish but missed a pile of them as well. Not anymore.
Today’s equipment is state of the art and the space-age materials they are made from make them lighter and stronger. The hooks are now a differentiator too. They are much better.
A few years ago Eagle Claw cut new ground with a revolutionary hook design called TroKar and without a doubt it was one of the best promotions followed by a hook. Less power on the hook set for better penetration and holding power made this a great hook for both the novice and the seasoned pro. TroKar helped step up design by other companies too and its staying power in the industry bodes well with anglers who want dependability and sharpness for sure hook sets.
