The Flambeau Waterproof Satchel 3000 is the embodiment of old-school flare meets new school technology. With its swing-out trays and two WP3012 Ultimate Tuff Tainers tucked underneath, the Waterproof Satchel is reminiscent of the old tackle boxes from years gone by that had the multi-tier trays which lifted up, as well as the compartmentalization characteristics of a good ole tackle bag.

In addition to incorporating what has worked well in the past, Flambeau eliminated what didn’t—primarily the vulnerability of baits and gear to moisture, which those older methods of storing tackle were so susceptible to. With waterproof seals throughout the main compartment and the two additional smaller Tuff Tainers, there’s lots to love in this tackle box.

The Flambeau Waterproof Satchel 3000 prevents rust and corrosion

Again, Flambeau went above and beyond here to protect your gear. Baits cost more than ever, so the last thing you want to see when you open your tackle box is a couple hundred bucks worth of rusted and ruined baits.

With waterproof seals and dividers infused with Zerust (Flambeau’s patented rust preventing technology), this tackle box offers the ultimate in protection for your gear.

Three-tier storage

This system offers a wide variety of tackle storage solutions all combined into one box. The top layer consists of two swing out trays that are perfect for housing loose skirted baits and hard baits like crankbaits, topwaters and jigs.

Then you can swing these two trays out to expose a larger cavity hidden underneath that accommodates all your bigger items well, like packs of soft plastics, tools and other baits still in their original packaging.

Lastly, there are the two WP3012 Ultimate Tuff Tainers tucked securely underneath. These can be slipped in and out of the Satchel and are perfect for organizing the smaller items you may need like shaky heads, weights and bobber stoppers.

My personal experience

Doing what I do for a living, I regularly need to have various bits of tackle on hand to fish with and to photograph. This has led to me having a random assortment of loose treble-hooked baits, packs of soft plastics and other products scattered around my vehicle, posing serious threats to safety and just making my life feel a little more cluttered than it needs to be.

The Flambeau Waterproof Satchel 3000 has offered the perfect remedy for this madness the last couple of months. I’ve kept it in my car and it protects all my gear while also keeping it organized and conveniently within reach whether I’m hopping in the boat with someone else, pulling it out on the bank of a pond or unloading and reloading it in the shop.

It doesn’t matter if the conditions are wet, if I throw something into the trunk on top of it or if someone or something else happens to collide with it with less than a gentle touch. I know all my gear is safe and organized and there’s no chance of me or anyone else getting hooked by a crankbait when digging for a quarter in the cupholder of my car.

The bottom line

At $69.99, the Flambeau Waterproof Satchel 3000 with two WP3012 Ultimate Tuff Tainers is a bit of an investment, but one that’s well worth it. Able to organize, protect and make readily available a wide variety of tackle and gear, this is the perfect tackle box for avid anglers and recreational fishermen alike.
