Falcon HD Bait Casting rod

Falcon Rods name is synonymous with quality and value. Great rods, great prices, and a great company combined into a product line that fits the bill for any angler. Whether you are a pro, a weekend angler or just someone that likes to fish once in a while  Falcon continues to build extremely reliable rods that fit every niche. If you are a pro like Mike McClelland or Jeff Kriet they have a rod for you. If you fish a weekend series or the BFL they have a rod for you. If you like to fish grandpa’s farm pond they have a rod for you. Everything starts with your equipment and Falcon builds products for every price point and application.
We recently had the opportunity to test the Falcon HD 6’6″ medium heavy baitcasting rod and even though it is  reasonably priced rod at nearly 70 bucks  we  found the value to be anything but a bargain bin or discounted  rod. This is a special stick and one that any angler would be proud to own. It has all the perks of the premium priced spread but at a cost that any angler can afford.
The Falcon HD is a quality rod with exceptional features. A priority to most anglers today is weight. The Falcon HD is very light. High quality cork, Fuji guides and reel seat and a  high quality  graphite blank that is perfect for several applications is its make up.
We used it on big crankbaits and wake baits and found it to be very angler friendly. Light enough to fish all day but tough enough to stand up to a pounding. The sensitivity of the 100% graphite blank and cosmetics make it look and feel like the high dollar spread. Even after throwing a Spro Little John DD for several hours we were not weary or worn out. We teamed it with a Abu Garcia Revo Winch and the matched set is a dream rig. Lightweight ,matched perfect to the reel in both color and balance and the medium heavy action blends well for larger crankbaits. The Falcon HD has enough backbone to launch a big plug but also forgiving enough with a softer tip to allow the bass to absorb the bait and not tear free on the fight.
In our tests we caught several larger bass, 3-4 pounds,  on consecutive casts  and the rod held up admirably. We were able to “swing” several bass into the boat without any trouble.
The rod specs include: 9 Fuji guides, designed for 1/4 to 3/4 ounce baits and 12-20 pound test are recommended. The Portuguese cork  handle is of high quality as well. Very smooth and no  filler. A nine inch handle allows for good leverage when fighting the fish and  aids with the balance.  This rod does  have a cork forgrip,  perfect for “old  school” product testers,  and we did not find it detrimental in the least bit.  The rod-though reel seat gives the angler plenty  of feel with cranks walking along the bottom and deflecting off of structure.
We highly recommend the Falcon both on price point and performance and don’t see how you could go wrong with a purchase. At $69.99 it may be one of the best buys in fishing.  This is a great all around rod that would be perfect for spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and worming/jigs as well. They look great, perform at top notch and have an excellent price. Can’t beat that combination!
