Here is a full statement from the GoFundMe Memorial Page:

As some of you may already know, on Thursday, June 2nd, we lost 22-year-old Alex Robbins, our beloved son, brother & friend. Alex drowned during an unexpected boating accident while fishing with his older brother, Brent off the coast of Catalina Island, California. Alex was lost at sea and despite the coastguards search, his body has not been recovered.

Thankfully, Alex’s older brother Brent survived but suffered from injuries and was rushed to the hospital. Brent has been released and is recovering at home surrounded by friends and family.

Alex was a true inspiration to everyone he met. He was the type of person who would light up a room, using his genuine kindness and humor to make everyone smile. He had a heart gold and would do anything for his friends and family. Alex lived an incredible adventurous life and was deeply loved and cherished by those who knew him, especially his family.

Alex & Brent’s family are left with a huge gaping hole in their hearts and are in the midst of deep sorrow and sadness as they mourn this unimaginable loss. As you might expect, there are a ton unanticipated expenses they need our help with: airfare, housing accommodations, funeral arrangements and more searching efforts for Alex’s body.

If you feel so led, please consider blessing my best friend and her family -Donna, Jamie, Brent & Melissa with a financial donation.

Whatever money that is not used for the above expenses, will go towards starting a fishing foundation in Alex’s honor.

Thank you for your financial support and most importantly, thank you for your continued prayers for the family.
