14.75-pound Bass Caught Out West

You might have seen some photos floating around of a big bass caught out west over the weekend. Well take a look at what a nearly 15-pound bass looks like. We can only imagine what John Chiarpotti was thinking when he pulled this beauty aboard.

He was fishing on New Melones Reservoir, a 1,200 acre manmade lake formed by the damming of the Stanislaus River. Chiarpotti is the owner of California Reservoir Lures out of Sonora, California. He and Alex Niapas were out fun fishing on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2015 and having a great time catching some giant spots on CRL jigs.

This giant, however, fell victim to an 8-inch Huddleston swimbait. A fish of a lifetime and one many of us can only dream about! Big bass season is officially underway!
