Boating Basics: How to Level Your Trailer

This short video explains how to achieve a level and balanced trailer using a simple construction level and adjustable trailer hitch

A level trailer allows it to track properly behind the tow vehicle. If it’s a dual axle trailer, level places equal pressure on both axles — this distributes weight properly while preventing excessing tire wear on the axle bearing additional load.

If you own a single trailer, a fixed solid ball mount hitch that achieves level is all you need. It’s common to own several trailers, but unlikely that they’ll ride level from a fixed ball height. In this case, adjustable hitches are the best product, as they allow you to make quick height adjustments based on the trailer and load being used.
