Two Men Fined for Being 141 Crappie Over the Limit in Mississippi

Two Lakeland, Tenn. anglers, Jian Wu Huang and Quiu M Huang were caught on New Year’s Day 2023 in possession of 171 crappie from the Enid Lake Spillway in Mississippi. That was 141 more than their allowable amount of 15 per person. They were also found to be fishing with too many as well as oversized hooks on each line.

As a result of a cooperative investigation between the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, both men were fined $5,275 each for a total of $10,550 in restitution to the MDWFP. On top of that, they also lost all fishing privileges everywhere in the world according to the statement and are banned from all Corps of Engineers property in the Northern District of Mississippi for the next year.

If you see someone breaking game laws, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service encourages the public to report alleged wildlife crimes by calling 1-844-FWS-TIPS or fws.gov/wildlife-crime-tips.
