How to Long-Distance Cast Big Baits

Oliver Ngy of Big Bass Dreams demonstrates the importance of long distance casting, and how to achieve distance with big baits. Big horizontally-retrieved lures like swimbaits and deep-diving crankbaits are at their best on a long cast.

A long-distance cast provides several advantages, including the following:

1) increases the chance that you’ll bring the lure by a fish

2) gives a big bass time to track or follow the lure, which increases the chance that it’ll commit.

Ngy’s long-distance pendulum casting technique was perfected growing up on offshore saltwater boats, and will maximize your casting distance in freshwater with oversized bass, striper, pike and musky fishing lures like big topwaters, deep diving crankbaits and swimbaits.
