Lost fish are going to happen when you’re fishing with treble-hooked lures; that’s why a lot of folks avoid them. It takes a lot more patience and attention to detail when landing bass when you’re using a lure adorned with treble hooks.
I have lost exactly zero fish while using the Berkley Fusion19 Treble 1x Hooks. I was having a heck of a time with short-striking fish this past February and March. The fish were where they’re supposed to be that time of year, but my other trebles kept coming back with nothing but a cheek scale on ’em. By the size of the scales, I could tell they were really good-sized bass.
I finally put a fresh pair of Berkley Fusion19 Treble 1x Hooks on my plug and it was a night-and-day difference. I went from PG-13 words and hissy fits to sticking my chest out like I was something special. Although most of the bass were hooked on the outside of their mouths, these hooks grabbed ’em and didn’t let go. Almost every time a fish swatted at my crankbait while using these hooks, they were hooked and I put them into the boat. I can’t ask for much more from a treble hook.
