How to Add a Swimbait Keeper to a Jig

Paddle tail swimbaits rigged on jigs is an excellent presentation for most predator fish, including bass, walleye, striper, and pike and musky. A common problem with this system is the swimbait sliding down off the keeper after repetitive casting or catching a few fish. The bait may still be perfectly fishable, but the plastic in the head of the lure gets stripped out, torn or stretched.

Professional bass angler Mark Davis shares an excellent swimbait jig modification that firmly secures the swimbait tight to the head of the jig. It’s a simple in-boat trick that requires nothing more than a few paper clips and pliers, and will greatly extend the fishable life of your solid and hollow body swimbaits.
