Prespawn Cranking for Coldwater Bass

Prespawn bass fishing with crankbaits with a great way to catch lots of big bass. After a long, harsh winter, large female bass are ready to replenish their bodies in preparation for the rigors of the upcoming spawn. Pro angler Jimmy Mason relies heavily upon the Bandit 200 Series crankbait throughout the entire prespawn period. These lures reach the 6 to 8-foot range on 10-pound fluorocarbon line and the tight wiggle is a great way to tempt coldwater bass. Color selection doesn’t need to be complicated. Water clarity is often reduced this time of year, so brighter colors such as chartreuse and red are excellent choices.
