Angler Dies after Bass Boat Collision

As area lakes become busier with warm weather and popular holidays, a 49-year-old male angler has passed away after a fatal boat collision during a night-fishing tournament on Wednesday night.

On Georgia’s Lake Tobesofkee, a small Middle Georgia fishery with just 35 miles of shoreline, witnesses reported seeing two fishing boats collide after attempting to navigate through the same area of water at roughly 10:30 p.m. The collision ejected Christopher King from the boat. Nearby witnesses helped King and the other boat occupant out of the water, but unfortunately the man was pronounced dead at Coliseum Northside Hospital shortly thereafter. His official cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Authorities say that the accident is still under investigation. If anyone has any pertinent information, they are urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at (478) 751-7500.
