For most of us seeing a topwater strike is why we fish. It doesn’t matter if its a popper, a walker or frog, we all love watching a big old bass jump on something on top. Hollow bodied frogs, plastic frogs with kicking legs and walking frogs all get the same result. Kablooey!
In recent years replacing the skirt on a buzzbait with a toad has been a go-to for many anglers due to its action and castability. You can put a buzzbait with a toad exactly where you want to and it rises to the surface more quickly than a skirted variety. A heavier buzzbait can ride the surface like an injured Junebug and man do the bass and predator gamefish love them.
