Favorite Realistic Craws for 2019

Walker Smith

Crawfish imitators are some of the most popular bass fishing baits in the world. These baits represent a protein-packed meal for hungry bass and are responsible for countless personal-best catches. If you really scour the market, you'll notice something pretty interesting: A lot of the crawfish imitators don't actually look much like crawfish.

The following baits, however, are the most realistic-looking craws of 2019. There's no second guessing what they're meant to represent and the attention to detail is stunning.

Aside from the outstanding craftsmanship and hand-painted shell by Robert McGilvry, the Fallcreek Lures Roman Craw also catches a bunch of big bass. It has a jointed body and soft pinchers that emulate a scurrying crawfish and its line tie angle allows it to come through cover quite easily.

You can also get interchangeable pinchers for the Roman Craw or you can use your own. With its loud internal rattle and premium fiber weed guard, this craw definitely belongs on the list.

We have caught a lot of big bass on the Savage Gear 3D Craw. It's created from a 3D scan of an actual crawfish and the bass just love this bait. They also seem to hold on to this bait for a long time before spitting it, which gives you more time to execute a powerful hookset. It's also infused with iodine, salt and craw scent.

It comes in three sizes, ranging from 3 to 5 inches long and is available at TackleWarehouse.com

Building on the massive popularity of the Ned rig, the TRD CrawZ is a smaller option but it has caught some big bass for us. Measuring just 2 1/2 inches, this bait is actually an excellent representation of the majority of crawfish you'll find in lakes, ponds and streams. Crawfish don't always look like lobsters and this smaller profile has been a proven producer for us.

The TRD CrawZ can be found at the following retailers:
