Great Lakes Captain Chris Williams walks us through how he configures his fish finder for the type of waters he’s fishing. Raymarine’s Axiom provides several preset options that serve as an excellent starting point (fresh water, salt water, sailing, etc.) but further customization on the water refines boat positioning, marking fish and reading structure. One of the keys with any of the new big screen units is displaying mapping along with multiple sonar technologies on the same screen. This allows quick associations and comparisons to be made, and ultimately provide you the best understanding of what’s below and off to the side of your boat.
