Damiki has steadily been growing its product line for the last few years and had another round of introductions at the 2012 ICAST show.
The first thing we saw was a couple of new jigheads. The Pandla jighead is made for use with soft jerkbaits and swimbaits like their Anchovy shad either cast as a single swimbait or on a castable umbrella rig. The jighead will come in 1/16 to 1/4 ounce sizes. The Kaiser head weedless builds off their popular Kaiser head and offers wacky rig fisherman a weedless option at 1/16 and 1/8 ounce sizes.
We then saw a couple of hard jerkbaits, the Humming Bird 70 and Abyss 90. Both are designed to be fish a bit deeper with the HB running about 5-6 feet while the Abyss will get down to around 8 feet.
Next we checked out two new blade baits, the Axe Blade with a tail spinner approach and the Metal Axe Bomber. The Axe Blade will be a great deeperwater tail spinner at a weight of 3/4 ounce and an interesting profile and great detailing for tail spinning bass at depth. The Metal Axe Bomber is a blade bait with two options for vibration and angle and weighs 5/8 ounce making it pretty versatile for bass on flats in cold water and deep jigging options.
Three plastics caught our eye. The Knock Out 4.5 is 4 1/2 inches longand features ridged tails and double flappers on the body. It will be a good punching bait, flipping bait and jig trailer. The Mega Miki II is 11 inches long and features more of a finesse, straight-tail design. The tail gets real thin before going into a bulbous tail so it should be a great option for deepwater bass. The Anchovy Shad is 4 inches long and comes in 6 colors ranging from greens to shad patterns making it good for swimbaits, umbrella rigs and even swim jigs and chatterbaits.
The Mamba II jig has a streamlined head for finessing through thick wood cover, a heavy duty weed guard and strong flipping hook. It's silicone and flatt rubber hybrid skirt gives it a lot of action in the water. It will come in a choice of 3/8 or 1/2 ounce sizes.
