Congratulations to Terry Butcher for winning the final PAA tournament of the season on Grand Lake. Grand happens to be one of Butcher’s favorite lakes in the fall and he has been eyeing this event since it appeared on the schedule last fall.

Butcher started the tournament fishing flat points and pockets but quickly found a dock pattern that held the better quality bass. His approach was simply to entice the bass suspending around cross beams in the fronts of the docks with a Booyah double willow spinnerbait. A spinnerbait is a hard lure to beat in the fall and Butcher pet it simple with a chartreuse and white skirt, a gold/silver combination in blades and a 1/2-ounce size.

He made long 80-yard casts down the fronts of the docks and worked the spinnerbait painfully slowly to keep it in the strike zone as long as possible and keep down in that 5- to 7-foot depth range.

For his efforts he won a brand new Nitro Z8 with Mercury Optimax Pro XS 225 hp motor that retails at $36,000.

Also congratulation to Shin Fukae for winning the 2013 PAA Angler of the Year title.
