Stone, Short join Vicious Fishing...12/30/2008 3:55:30 PM

Bass Cat Boats anglers Marty Stone and Kevin Short have joined the Vicious Fishing Pro-staff and will be endorsing and using Vicious line for 2009.

Marty Stone is excited about joining Vicious. " Vicious Line has all the things I look for in a line sponsor.  That is a quality product that is continuing to improve.  The improvement though is not creating so many line applications and brands that it confuses the fisherman, but instead they improve on the great product lines they have and the fisherman already know about.  I also like the fact it has the feel of a giant company, but they still value personal relationships" said Stone.

Kevin Short was pleased as well. "After months of testing numerous lines, I’ve found that Vicious offers the best fishing lines. Not only is Vicious line extremely dependable, the entire product line, from their 100% Fluorocarbon to their new Braid, is very affordable. I was sold on Vicious Fluorocarbon after catching my first ever 6 pound Lake Erie smallmouth on 6 pound 100% Fluorocarbon!

Vicious offers some of the best products for anglers because the folks at Vicious are anglers. They know what we need to catch more fish and are constantly looking to improve and add products to help all of us put more fish in the boat" noted Short.

"We are very excited to have two hard working, dedicated pro's who are not only are great anglers but know how to promote as well" said Chris Dutton of Vicious.  For more information regarding Vicious products click here.

Denny Brauer recently signed a new deal with Ardent but that's not all that's going on in his world.  Take a look at his wrap for the upcoming season.

Very similar to last years design with the addition of the blue flames.  When asked the reason for the change Denny said "People really liked the look of last years  wrap so we didn't want to get to far away from that original concept.  We just wanted to enhance it and I think H2O did a terrific job!"  We agree!

The graphics and wrap were done by H2O HydroWraps in Hendersonville, TN.  The photos are courtesy of Chris Brown Creative.

KVD supports the Marshalls....12/9/2008 6:59:56 PM

Wired photo

 From BASS Today:
Kevin VanDam of Kalamazoo, Mich., came out strong in his Dec. 4 blog at Bassmaster.com in favor of the Bassmaster Elite Series’ new Marshal Program.

A four-time AOY, VanDam said the program is “one of the best things to happen to our sport in years.”

The Marshal Program offers in-the-boat observer experiences to fishing fans. Those who sign up for the program will be randomly paired with a different Elite pro on at least two of the four days of a 2009 Elite competition. The $100 program cost, VanDam points out, is a deal for what amounts to intensive seminars on tournament fishing, one-on-one with the sport’s best pros.

Wrote VanDam: “The Marshals who go out with me will get a seminar on how I'm fishing. And I know the other Elite Series competitors feel the same way. I haven't talked to a single one who isn't excited about this program and who doesn't intend to do exactly what I intend to do.”

Habervision Eliminator Goggles...12/6/2008 11:41:27 AM

Steve Haber was the guy that put Bolle Sunglasses on the map and he has a new company called Habervision. Superior quality and great looking eyewear is their forte. They know what outdoorspeople need and fit the bill in both sunglasses and a new competition grade goggles. The new googles called the Eliminator protects your eyes and will not fog up.

The Eliminator was conceived and designed to address the last real problem affecting today’s goggles; fogging. Through a unique module concept, incorporating innovative design and technology driven thinking, Haber eliminates fog issues forever.

Completely self contained and fully automatic, the Haber Eliminator works by sensing the rising humidity level inside your goggle before fog has a chance to form, and automatically activates a tiny fan that vents the warm moist air to the atmosphere. When humidity regains an acceptable level, the fan turns off automatically. Automated eyewear....now that is cool!!

Great for early morning runs at 70 mph, miserable rainy and windy days or even when its hot and steamy and bugs are a problem, the Eliminator is the perfect pair of goggles.

Grigsby loves his bow hunting...12/5/2008 9:08:16 AM

Chris Brown Creative

Bassmaster Elite Series pro Shaw Grigsby is as passionate about hunting as he is about fishing, but he rarely picks up his rifle and instead opts for his compound bow.

This time of year, he spends as much time as he can hunting deer on his property in South Carolina near Santee Cooper Reservoir. When he’s at home, the quarry is wild hogs, which are prolific in central Florida.

“I just love shooting a bow,” Grigsby said in a B.A.S.S. news release. "With a rifle, you can get a deer at 300, 400 yards. With a bow, you almost have to be able to spit on them. The stealth that it takes to get the animal that close — to me, that’s what hunting is all about.”

He said he took up archery after trying out a bow at an outdoor sports show. Over the years, he’s built his skills to be accurate to about 80 yards.

“I’d take the bow with me out on the (Bassmaster) tour, set up a target outside the motel, and shoot, shoot, shoot, and have fun with it,” Grigsby said. “Just learning to shoot 20, 25, then 30 yards — when you are getting started, just hitting the target is a big deal.”

Grigsby, who qualified in 2008 for his 11th Bassmaster Classic appearance, said he often hunts with his 21-year-old son, Shaw Eric. His primary teacher has been his father, who has passed on not only the mechanics of the sport, but management practices that help ensure healthy deer herds.  The meat is never wasted in the Grigsby family.

“I love eating venison,” Grigsby said. “Deer meat is extremely healthy. It’s very low-fat, and has enzymes you can’t get from store-bought meat. We have made our own deer sausage, but now have it made at a place in South Carolina that makes great spicy sausage. But we still process a lot of our own meat.”
