Gas and Money Saving Tips

Gas prices are over 4 dollars in some locations, boats are bigger with larger outboards and we all carry too much gear. What is an angler to do, take up golf! Towing requirements have not changed and short of not pulling out of the driveway anglers must cut corners to make it to their favorite fishing hole. What do you drive and what do you do to cut costs and still spend time on the water?

We have a few suggestions for your tow vehicle:
  1. Use E85 if its available in your area and you have a flex fuel vehicle. Could save as much or more than 10 dollars per fill-up.
  2. Keep your tires inflated to manufacturers specifications.
  3. Pair down your tackle in the boat and fill it up at the destination versus at home. Less weight saves fuel.
  4. Slow down when towing.
What do you do?
