We have been testing the new "Bump and Run" buzzbait from Uncle Josh and the results have been impressive so far. We want to give it some time when the grass tops out and when fish are in post spawn. We also want to fish it around docks in summer time conditions but we also wanted to give readers an update on what we have seen so far.
The Bump and Run Buzzbait is a triple winged lure with great lift. It has a very unique oversized head that has a steering lip on it for two functions: 1. To alter the steering of the bait and 2. To allow the bait to deflect off of objects more effectively. It has a rachet system in the head to lock the position of the steer and an extra long hook shank for exceptional hook-ups. The multi-colored skirts are hand tied and the fish head has 3D eyes. The wire is a heavy gauge and the blade quality is superb.
We have thrown it around wood and laydowns, and it can be steered "to" the object. It's almost like a remote controlled boat. We like to drag it to an object, bump it, twitch the rod tip and change the direction again. It can be fished in places with wood a normal buzzer would get hung. It is also a great open-water buzzbait. Due to the lip, it is tough to fish through matted weeds, but because of the action, we feel it definitely is a bait we want in our arsenal.
We will be doing a full Next Generation Tackle Box review on the entire Uncle Josh Bump and Run line-up including the buzzbait, the spinnerbait, and swim jig in the near future.
