Abu Garcia has done it again with the new line of Revo reels.

Those lucky enough to own one know that the Abu Garcia Revo STX is in a class by itself. Introduced to the public last year the Revo has gained notoriety from amateurs and pro’s alike. Several versions of the reel are manufactured, each with different features and price points but all with the same ironclad dependability and angler friendly features we expect from Abu Garcia.

The Next Generation Tackle Box is starting to look “reel” good and the latest addition is the Revo STX gives that box a quality baitcaster at an affordable price that shouts versatility. The Revo STX is a budget priced reel but is anything but budget performing. This 6.4 to 1 beauty is packed with enough punch to handle 140 yards of 12 lb Trilene Professional Grade Fluorocarbon, has 11 ball bearings for super smooth castability, a single piece aluminum frame that makes it light and manageable. The Carbon Matrix Drag system is super smooth and even after heavy use does not catch or grab. Combined with a linear braking system this compact reel can handle to toads.

We have had the opportunity to throw the entire line of Revo’s and feel the STX stands out in the durability and speed of retrieve categories. As with all of the Revo reels the ergonomics of the low profile allow anglers with small hands to manage them and teamed with a great handle and grips you feel as if you could tow a car!

The characteristics of this reel allowed us to throw small crankbaits as well flip and pitch jigs and plastics.
