Kicker Fish Bait Company - Hole Shot Worm
Customizing plastic baits with dyes have been around since Grandma found out she could change the icing color on a cake but Kicker Fish Bait Company has taken it to a whole new level with their new KickerFish Hole Shot Worm. Designed with symmetrically spaced air chambers (7 of them) in the body of the bait this 4 ¾ inch worm will stand at attention vertically when fished on a lead head. It also dances nicely on a dropshot and also works well rigged Texas style or with a lightly weighted hook.
This bait works well out of the package but the magic begins when it is customized with die markers. Using the marker in the inside the air chamber holes give the worm the appearance of internal organs. It has the look and action of a hand-poured worm and the holes in the bait makes the way it moves different from solid worms.
“Designing and building a good bait is only half the battle. Put it in a package and give it to a fisherman and the creativity really starts to happen” noted Kicker Fish owner Kelly Jones. “The whole idea of utilizing dye markers on this worm in the air chamber holes originated in California. Those guys are very meticulous and detail oriented and recognize the possibilities like that almost immediately. I have taken several of our colors and have created some pretty exotic 3D looks with these worms. Based on where you fish you can match the colors to the water clarity and the results are staggering “said Jones.
The Inside Scoop
The name “Hole Shot” was given to the worm by Kelly Jones 8 year old son Jordan. “We had the design but were struggling with a name. Cody Bird and I spend countless hours on the name and really didn’t have one we liked. I told my son about it and he said “Dad, with the holes in the bait and because you can dropshot it why don’t you call it a “Hole Shot? “Cody and I just looked at each other and grinned” said Jones.
There will be a 7” model available very soon.
