Dives-To..Great Cranks..

Most anglers know there are certain baits that flat catch fish. Rapala has the reputation of building premier quality baits that not only catch fish but do exactly as they are designed.

A great product in their line-up is the Dive-To series and in particular the DT-6, PRT. The Rapala DT-6 is a compact crankbait that casts well, even into the wind, and dives to around 6 foot and stays there for most of the retrieve.

We tested this particular model on a Fenwick Elite Tech cranking rod, with Trilene 12 lb Fluorocarbon line and a Pfleuger Purist 6.3 to 1 reel.

The bait casts perfectly up to 30 yards and retrieved straight right out of the box. The narrow thin bill gave the bait a nice tight wobble and the bait deflected well off both wood and rock. We particularly liked the color combinations of parrot and chartreuse purple shiner for stained water.

Since they are made of the highest grade balsa they are durable yet very buoyant. On a stop and go retrieve the bait would suspend then begin to slowly float to the surface.

Inside Scoop
The DT-6 retails for $6.29 which is an anomaly for this quality of bait. Similar baits are much more expensive. It can be found at most leading retailers and more information on the DT Series of baits can be found at www.rapala.com .

This is a great early springtime bait that can be fished on pea gravel banks and on rip rap.
