Scott Suggs, the local favorite on
Lake Ouachita started to distance himself from the field on day two with another limit of five bass weighing more than 17 pounds. His 17-2 today gave him 34-13 for two days and a 3-pound, 11-ounce lead on Keith Monson. Suggs is fishing offshore and has figured out a deal to catch bigger bass on his deep water spots. He keyed in on the subtle detail the first afternoon when he caught a bass weighing more than 5 pounds. Today he was able to cull his entire limit out later in the day with his "subtle detail" that he's figured out.
Jacob Powroznik stayed very consistent with another 15 pound limit of bass to hold down the third place spot with 30 pounds, 5 ounces. Roy Hawk, arguably the best bass angler from the state of Utah is in fourth place with 29-8 and Todd Auten and Terry Bolton are neck and neck in fifth and sixth places with 28-10 and 28-2 respectively.
More details to come but the the deep bite is improving while the shallow bite is frustrating many anglers. Several pros reported seeing 25-pound limits of bass crusing around in the clear waters of Lake Ouachita but they would not react to their offerings and were virtually uncatchable with clear skies and no wind.
