BASS founder Ray Scott never is at a loss for marketing savvy, which has helped propel BASS, bass fishing and his own line of products into the public conscience for 40 years.
Saturday at the jam-packed Classic outdoors show, Scott was signing autographs about as fast as possible on everything from caps and books to a kid's forehead. No joke. We watched him do it!
Behind Scott in his booth were two coolers full of warm, tinfoil-wrapped tamales in corn husks. They were delicious and Scott was trying to barter them to the public.
"Buy one of my books or hats and I'll give you lunch!" he said. "You can't beat that!"
The tamales came from a place in Zwole, La., where he visited years ago and fell in love with them. Scott ordered some for the show.
