We had the opportunity to talk to Global Product Manager Mark Gibson of Humminbird today and he tells us the future is indeed bright at their company. No sitting on your hands at this depth sounder manufacturer. "We are all about raising the feature richness of our products from the top of the line to the base units and making it both more functional and easier for our users " noted Gibson.
They have done some spectacular things for 2009. The Humminbird 700 Series has been elevated with a complete facelift and higher resolution screens. Higher pixels counts means more detail and a new 640X640 pixel color display shouts high resolution. "We also now have 3 preset buttons on the units. The ability to give 3 different screen views at a single touch is what anglers wanted and we gave it to them. Also the display is a true 5"display and buyers can choose between internal and external GPS for the apllication. We offer internal GPS on combo mounts only today" said Gibson.
Also on the 700 Series Humminbird is offering a second SD card slot where snapshots can be stored along side a Navionics map.
In the 900 and 1100 Series, although there are no new units, the groups have two cool new purchasable features that could intrigue the buyer. XM Nav Weather and radar gives the boater realtime inland weather and the AS GR HA GPS receiver is more accurate from 4 to 2 meters. Mark a brushpile and be right back on it.
The Blitz is on at Humminbird! "We are excited about the future here" said Gibson.
