Fishing time means boating time and nothing makes a bad day out of a good day faster than a breakdown or something not working properly.
Before taking your first trip out in the boat make sure you, check and charge the batteries (check fluid levels too), check the trolling motor prop for line or breaks and check the trolling motor plug for corrosion. Test the bilge, aerator and lights.
Make sure you have all the proper safety equipment on board including rope, throwable device, horn or whistle, paddle if necessary in your state and life jackets.
Test everything before putting it on the water and don't forget the trailer, as well. Make sure the bearings are greased and all the lights work properly.
Make sure you PUT the PLUG IN!!
This is also a great time to add a Keelshield keel protector and a skeg shield from Keelshield. Both will make sure your trip will be a good one.
