Mercury goes retro
Two cool things that caught our eye in the Mercury exhibit were old school logos instead of the newer styles.
One is a green-white cap with a cool winged shield, red "K" and the Kiekhaefer Mercury Outboard Motors logo used years ago. Another was a brown-and-gray hoodie sweatshirt with a very simple Kiekhaefer logo.
The exhibit included outboard motors that spanned the company's near 70th anniversary. One was from 1957, a MercElectric Mark 75 that was the first production outboard to exceed 100 mph. It had a 6-cylinder 2-stroke engine. Another was from 1966, a Merc 1000SS that included the first hydraulic trim.
