This week's FLW Tour Chevy Open on Lake Guntersville and next week's Bassmaster Classic on the Red River put the tour season in high gear.
Economic times can shed a negative light and there is no question that many company budgets are tight. But let's look at it from a different perspective.
BASS will be paying out more than $1.2 million at the Classic. The first tour stop for FLW will pay $150,000 (and possibly $50,000 more in contingencies) for first place, and almost $800,000 total. That is a bunch of dough, and here at Wired2Fish we are thankful both organizations are bellying up to the bar to keep the sport going. Instead of punching holes in the payouts, rules or how they run their businesses let's be thankful that all of us who love this sport have them to follow.
Let's start the season with a positive note! Wired2Fish is looking forward to covering both leagues and their respective anglers for you again in 2009.
Have fun ... it's fishing and its supposed to be!
