Mark Klossner, Mercury’s brand manager for the Optimax/ProXS lines, jet outboards and two-strokes, has announced that he is leaving the company this month to pursue an opportunity with a company that builds and markets premium snow removal equipment.
Klossner has been with Mercury for 10 years and said that it has been an enjoyable tenure, but that it’s time to move on. While his name may not ring a bell with every casual angler out there, he has made an indelible stamp on the world of competitive angling through the projects he has championed, which include Mercury’s popular 3-liter engines and, most notably, the ProXS line. Since their widespread introduction five years ago, the 225 ProXS and 250 ProXS have become the gold standard for Mercury pros at all levels of competition, combining top performance with fuel efficiency. When rising fuel costs became a concern, the addition of the 175 ProXS filled a niche for the budget-conscious baser.
Klossner is an avid angler himself, and while he may be leaving the industry, those of you in Wisconsin will likely continue to see him on local lakes, no doubt with a black motor hung on the back of his boat.
