Berkley and BASS announced today that the Columbia, S.C.-based tackle company has renewed its long-standing association as an official sponsor and supporter of BASS. Berkley will continue as the official fishing line and soft plastic baits of BASS and its tournament trails.
The agreement includes sponsorship of the Bassmaster Classic, Bassmaster Elite Series, the Bassmaster Federation Nation presented by Yamaha Outboards and Skeeter Boats and the Bassmaster Opens.
“BASS and Berkley have for decades been leaders in promoting bass fishing and conservation,” said John Bartow, Sr. Director Marketing, Pure Fishing. “Our baits and line have played major roles in the evolution of bass fishing. Our Classic champions, winners of Angler of the Year awards, tournament victors and dominant team performances have all contributed to the growth of the sport, and we are excited to continue our sponsorship in the BASS programs.”
With the agreement, Berkley will receive significant exposure across BASS’ multimedia properties, including The Bassmasters on ESPN2, Bassmaster Magazine and Bassmaster.com. Berkley will also receive on-site exhibit space at all BASS events to display its product lines.
BASS and Berkley will also feature a contingency program for the 2010 Elite Series. The Elite angler who weighs the heaviest daily limit of fish during each Elite Series event will receive $500.
The Berkley pro staff includes Bassmaster Elite Series pros like Mike Iaconelli and Skeet Reese, each a former winner of the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year award and the Bassmaster Classic. The Berkley team also includes past Classic champion Boyd Duckett of Demopolis, Ala., who will be defending his 2007 Classic victory on Lay Lake in the upcoming Feb. 19-21, 2010 Classic.
